Lunch på Ao Yama
Är det något det finns gott om här i Valencia så är det riktigt bra Japanska ”All you can eat” restauranger. Och nu menar jag inte en vanlig buffe. Här blir man tilldelad ett bord och kan sedan välja deras meny där du får beställa in precis hur mycket du vill. Den innehåller både förrätter, varmrätter, sushi, sashimi, efterrätter och så vidare. Men allt lagas på beställning. Däremot får du inte beställa in mer än vad du äter, vilket är rimligt då folk annars skulle beställa in ALLT och så skulle de sedan få slänga allt.
Nä men de är riktigt bra dessa restauranger, man får testa många olika rätter, det är bra kvalitet på maten och man blir garanterat mätt!

A Sunday full of museums, food & cinema
Vi spenderade hela Söndagen i stan genom att besöka tre olika museum, äta ute och sedan gå på bio. Tips för dig som besöker Valencia – Flera museum är gratis på Söndagar
Filmer vi såg var Bohemian Rhapsody. Trots att det var längesen filmen hade premiär så var salen nästan full. Filmen var underhållande och jag har alltid tyckt att Rami Malek är en bra skådis. Däremot så stämmer inte allt i filmen, samt så tycker jag att den var lite ”förskönad”. Hade räknat med mer starka känslor.
Jag tror däremot att det är svårt att göra en film av en sådan djup historia som visas under bara ett par timmar.

. At the cinema we watched Bohemian Rhapsody. Even that the premier was a long time ago the cinema was almost full. The movie was entertaining and i always liked Malek as an actor. But there is some things in the story that is not correct. And i also feel that the movie did not really manage to deliver the deep feeling i was expecting. It was more like a beautified summary. But i also belive that it is very hard to catch such a deep story in only a few hours of a movie. // -
Craft Beer and Empanadas
Lördagskvällen spenderades inne i centrala Valencia men julmarknad, shopping, tapas och drinkar, och ännu mer tapas och drinkar. Vi bara vandrade runt hela kvällen och stannade till på små mysiga barer för lite smårätter och något att dricka. Det sista stället vi stannade på var Picnicity. Ett ställe som serverar massor av olika sorters Argentinska empanadas.
De hade ett riktigt bra utbud av vegetariska alternativ och öl. Mina favorit empanadas var de med smak av pumpa, getost och honung samt den med seitan, svamp, zucchini och morötter.Stället ligger inte allt för långt ifrån parken som går runt hela staden, och de kör dessutom på mängdrabatter. Perfekt för take away om man vill picknicka lite i det fina värdet
// We spent Saturday evening in the city of Valencia where we went to some Christmas markets, did some shopping, ate some food, had some drinks, and then more food & drinks. We basically walked around the whole evening and stopped by at bars where we had something small to eat with a drink. The last place we stopped by for some food was Picnicity. It is a place where you go to have Argentinian empanadas. They had a really good variety of empanadas and good beer. My favorites was the ones filled with pumpkin, goat cheese & honey, and the one filled with seitan, mushrooms, zucchini and carrots.
The place is also located pretty close to the park that encircles the city. Perfect if you plan a picnic and want to get some take away empanadas, especially since they are offering good prices if you buy more. //

Varför vi valde att bosätta oss i Valencia
I slutet av Augusti så reste ju jag och L ner till Spanien för att hitta någonstans att bo. Vi hade 10 dagar på oss att hitta något innan jag skulle flyga tillbaka till Sverige igen och stanna där i två veckor. Vi hittade en bostad, signerade papper och förde över pengar en timma innan jag återvände till Sverige. Puh!Så vad är anledningen till att vi flög till just Valencia?
Vi har under tre år bott på Malta tillsammans, jättemysigt land men allt är väldigt litet. Jag som kommer ifrån Stockholm har saknat att bo i en storstad, men samtidigt trivs jag med medelhavsklimatet. Spanien var dessutom ett bra val tyckte vi då L har spanska som modersmål. Om man kikar på de största städerna i Spanien så är det Madrid, Barcelona och Valencia. Jag har besökt både Madrid och Barcelona tidigare men aldrig Valencia.
Barcelona är alltid fint, en stad vid en strand sitter ju aldrig fel. Men jag tycker att det är väldigt turistigt. Mycket turistfällor med höga priser på mat som inte alls är särskilt bra. Men sen lär man sig självklart under tiden som man bor där. Det finns en chans att vi mycket väl kan flytta dit senare.
Madrid älskar jag. Det är en så himla mysig stad och full med riktigt autentiska tapas ställen och mysiga barer. Men då bor vi mitt i landet och har långt till sol och bad vid en strand.Efter att ha gjort lite research och pratat med vänner som har bott i Spanien så kom vi fram till att Valencia är värt ett försök. Flera vänner har berättat om hur detta är deras favoritstad i Spanien. Dessutom är allt ca 14% billigare här än i de andra större städerna. Jag har nu spenderat ca 1.5 månad här och jag älskar det! Det finns så mycket att se och göra, människorna är trevliga och det finns så mycket bra ställen att gå ut och äta på. Det är dessutom en studentstad så man stöter på fullt med folk från olika delar av världen. Precis sånt som jag älskar!
Och vi bor dessutom 100 meter ifrån stranden <3
// At the end of August, me and L traveled to Spain to find a place to live. We had totally 10 days to find something before i was going to take a flight back to Sweden and stay there for 6 weeks. At our last day we found an apartment, signed the papers and transferred money, just one hour before i was leaving. Puh!
But why did we chose to go to Valencia to find a place?
We have been living in Malta for 3 years, a very nice and cozy country but also very small. I am born and raised in Stockholm so i have missed to live in a big city. But at the same time i do like the climate of Mediterranean countries. If you look at the biggest cities of Spain you can see it is Barcelona, Madrid and Valencia.
Barcelona is always nice to visit. And a city at the beach is never bad. But i do think it is very touristic. Many tourist traps with high prices on bad food and such. But of course that is something you will learn about when living at a place, there is a lot of great places too!
Madrid i love! It is such a cozy city full of authentic tapas places and cozy bars. But Madrid is in the middle of everything and far from the beach.So after we had done a lot of research and talked to people who actually have live din Spain, we decided to go for Valencia. Several people told us that Valencia is their absolute favorite city in whole Spain. Everything is also around 14% cheaper than the other big cities.
For now i have been living here for around 1.5 month and i love it so far. There is a lot of things to see and do, the people are really nice and there is A LOT of great restaurants to visit. This is also a student city which means there is people from all over the world to meet, which i love!
And our apartment is also located 100 meters from the beach <3 // -
My Sunday
Igår passade vi på att ta en cykeltur in till stan. L hade köpt biljetter till Valencias Biopark som vi åkte för att besöka. Jag är inte mycket för att gå på zoo, tycker djur ska ses i det fria. Men jag måste säga att jag var imponerad över de inhängnader djuren hade. Helt klart de bästa jag sett, med god marginal!
// Yesterday we took some bikes to the city. L had bought us tickets to Valencias Bio-park. I am not much for going to zoos, i think animals should be observed in the wilds. But i have to say that i was impressed by the environment that the animals had. It was for sure the best i have seen. //
Efter vårt besök i parken så tog vi cyklarna mer centralt för att hitta någonstans att äta. Hittade ett ställe med bra recensioner som vi bestämde oss för. Ett tips när du besöker Valencia är att alltid kika om restaurangen har någon ”dagens meny”. Då ingår det alltid val av förrätt, varmrätt, efterrätt och dryck för ett mycket billigare pris än om man skulle ta allt separat i menyn.
// After our visit at the park we headed toward the city central to find a place to eat. We found a place with good reviews that we decided to go for. A tips when you are visiting Valencia is to always check if the restaurant has a ”menu of the day”. Then you can pick options from a list and it always includes starter, main, dessert and a drink. And the price will always be much lower than if you had ordered everything separate in the menu. //

Japanese food at Kaori Rusafa
My last dinner in Valencia before i left to Sweden again was amazing! L had planned to take me to a nice Paella restaurant as a surprise until i told him 2 days earlier that i am not a big fan of paella. He then had to change the plans and picked a Japanese restaurant instead. And it was great! The food and the service was on top, and i think this might be the best Japanese restaurant i have ever visited so far.
I will go visit this restaurant for sure when i am back in Valencia!
Ah yeah i have not told you guys yet, but i actually got myself a rental contract for an apartment in Valencia when i was there last week. So in about 5 weeks i am moving there! -
One night in Barcelona
Tired, tired and once again tired. I arrived to Barcelona yesterday evening and spent the night there. We realized we did not have an AC in the room when we arrived so this nights sleep has not been the best. Well, now we are on our way to Valencia were we going to spend some days, or a week? We have not decided yet, so lets start with 4 days
At least we had some nice tapas yesterday at a place called Lute before we went home to sleep in our warm room. I am not a pasta person but when i eat pasta i like it to be a creamy one. This truffle cannelloni was creamy AF. I liked it. The place itself was also very nice and they had a lot of other good food and drinks to chose between.
